Why get electronic drums? These days electronic drums are quiet, feel great, have tons of sounds, are roadworthy, look great etc. They have evolved into their own instrument with many drummers owning an acoustic and electronic kit. Either that or they have a hybrid kit with triggers or some other combination. You can also get a variety of software programs that give you access to the latest and greatest sounds if you have a computer. Another major benefit of electronic drums is the ease of setup. You don't have to mic anything or tweak and compressor or gate to get that perfect sound. On top of that you have tremendous variety at the touch of a button. Say you want to do a rock song and the next song is a jazz type song which has a completely different drum sound. Just switch to the Jazz kit and you are ready to go. With an acoustic kit you would need two drum sets to achieve this. Not convinced yet? Did you play electronic kits 10 years ago and hate them? They have come a long way in 10 years. The pads not only feel very realistic and trigger great but they look like real drums in some cases. The cymbals have undergone the same change with some electronic cymbals looking identical to the real thing.
