First of all, you're looking at one of the best sounding studio monitors ever made. Super high detail, plenty of power, incredibly large sound stage, and no listener fatigue. The Event Opal represents an incredible achievement from giants in the speaker field. They came up with a 2-way driver design that is truly groundbreaking. The EX8 driver boasts an impressive 30Hz-10kHz response with a high-power neodymium motor. That means it's got tons of bottom end and you won't need a sub! Opal's ULD1 tweeter with rotatable wave guide is also worth note, as it blends Beryllium with the extremely powerful neodymium motor for incredibly high SPL capabilities without the problem of distortion. Beryllium is an extremely rare and expensive light metal and this is the first time it's ever been used in combination with neodymium in a speaker.

Event paid close attention to the Opal's cabinet and bass port design in order to get the most out of it's state of the art low frequency driver and horn. The Opal uses aluminum for reduced resonance and features a curved body to minimize the diffraction issues that arise from flat or cornered sections. The enclosure uses front-mounted variable impedance bass reflex ports that don't rely on room acoustics like rear ports do, or suffer from air distortion artifacts like you will find in conventional front-ported systems. The result is extremely fast, deep, and accurate low frequency response.

Opal can be used in a vertical or horizontal position to accommodate a variety of setup situations. The tweeter and logos are rotatable! They thought of everything, didn't they? All controls are concealed on the front behind a flip-open panel so you don't have to reach behind your speakers all the time. The amp is mounted on the back and designed to be low profile for better mounting flexibility. Front porting allows for more positioning flexibility - in soffits and more! The hi-fi all analog circuitry ensures the purest sound and an RTA microphone is included for room analysis and optimum system configuration

The Event Opal is loaded with an EX8 driver that boasts a 30Hz to 10kHz raw response and a carbon fiber reinforced cone for big sound - all powered by a 63mm neodymium motor. The ULD1 tweeter sports a powerful neodymium motor that drives an edge wound aluminum coil on a beryllium dome. The tweeter can be rotated, allowing for either vertical or horizontal positioning of the monitor speaker. A second dedicated voice coil - named XCoil - is equipped for linearized impedance and reduced inductance and exhibits dramatically lowered distortion characteristics and increased speed and control of cone assembly. The end result? Amazing sound quality.

Event Opals are AMAZING! November 1, 2012
Reviewer: Mark Phillips from Maryville, TN United States
I knew that Event made some great sounding studio monitors from my experience with the 20/20's. But what I heard with the Opal's, I wasn't expecting. There are songs that I've heard all my life that sounded completely different when hearing them through the Opals. I listened to everything from a single vocal with an acoustic guitar to Jazz Funk. The cut and cleanness of the vocal with the thump of the bass was simply amazing. Completely tunable for your room - no studio should be without a set of these.

Awesome Monitors September 14, 2012
Reviewer: Erik Hamm from Knoxville, TN United States
We went to the Opal product launch and from the time they came on everyone was blown away. We also had a pair set up in our demo area for almost a year and loved every minute of it. In this price range they rule, period.
