Yamaha’s YDP161 Arius Traditional Digital Piano with Bench provides true piano tone and touch. The GH keyboard and 3-level AWM Dynamic Stereo Sampling voices deliver remarkably authentic sound and natural expressiveness. The piano sound is a sampling from an award winning, highly acclaimed Yamaha Full Concert Grand Piano CFIIIS. Sound sampling covered more than 10 stages of key strike strength for each keyboard.
The YDP161’s new amp, the "Tone Escape", features an outlet for sound coming from the back of the keyboard that has been widened. The result is a clearer piano sound with increased volume, supported by a stereo amplifier with 20 watts of power per side. The YDP-161 features 128-note polyphony, which allows the performance of dense passages even when layering sounds via the Dual Voice feature. Yamaha's technology ensures there is no sound cut-off during heavy sustain pedal usage so no notes are lost during performance.
Three pedals are attached to the cabinet: damper, soft, and sostenuto pedals are standard on the cabinet of the YDP161. The damper pedal offers a half-pedal response that can handle micro-adjustments of its strength, depending on how hard the pedal is pressed. Yamaha’s YDP161 features a keyboard that offers an adjustable, natural playing feel. Just like on a traditional acoustic piano, lower notes on a GH keyboard have a heavier touch, while the higher ones have a lighter touch. And best of all, you can adjust the keyboard sensitivity to suit your playing style.
50 classic piano songs are provided in the song player and as a music book, "50 Greats for the Piano." The YPD161 features fantastic, realistic voices. These include: Grand Piano, Vibraphone, Electric Pianos, Harpsichords, Church Organs, and a Strings Voice that you can use when in Dual Voice Mode with the Acoustic Piano. The YDP161 also comes with two headphone jacks, a built-in metronome, a headphone hanger, and a beautiful dark rosewood finish.
Use the Yamaha free software Music Software Downloader1 to transfer music data on the PC (MIDI) to the instrument's built-in memory2. 1Music Software Downloader is compatible with Windows only. 2Requires the USB-MIDI interface "UX-16" to transfer the files. The easy to use, built-in 2-track recorder lets you capture your music and play it back. Play both hands together and use the second track to add a different part. Or play one part at a time and rehearse complicated pieces. You can also transfer recorded songs to your computer using Yamaha’s free Music Download software for storage, further editing or displaying your performance as music notation.
