Felt Beater on Mesh Heads? No!

No! Do not attempt! The felt will tear through your mesh head faster than anything else. We have seen the results. Use a plastic or wooden beater. Most kick pedals sold nowadays have multiple sides. Another option is to use a kick patch. Like this one. What happens with the felt on mesh seems to be that when the felt wears off it creates tiny little sharp edges that act like knives on the mesh fibers. On a normal acoustic head that does not have these fibers its not a problem. On mesh though it is a bad reaction for sure. So take our word for it avoid using a felt beater on a mesh head.
